Reds End Astros’ Five-Game Winning Streak

A Look at the Highs and Lows of the Game

The Cincinnati Reds snapped the Houston Astros' five-game winning streak with a 5-2 victory on Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park. The Reds jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, as their bullpen turned in a strong performance to secure the win.

Reds Offense Comes Alive

The Reds offense came alive early, scoring three runs in the first inning off Astros starter Jake Odorizzi. Joey Votto drove in two with a double, and Kyle Farmer added an RBI single. The Reds added two more runs in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Nick Senzel and an RBI single by Aristides Aquino.

Astros Offense Struggles

The Astros offense struggled against Reds starter Tyler Mahle, who allowed just two runs on four hits over six innings. Jose Altuve hit a solo homerun, while Yordan Alvarez added a sacrifice fly.

Bullpen Shines for Reds

The Reds bullpen was outstanding in relief of Mahle, allowing just one hit over the final three innings. Amir Garrett, Lucas Sims, and Art Warren combined to strike out five batters and walk none.

What’s Next?

The Reds and Astros will meet again on Wednesday night at Great American Ball Park. Luis Castillo will start for the Reds, while Lance McCullers Jr. will start for the Astros.
