Rays Halt Slump, Erupt for 8-Run Inning, Take 2nd Straight Win

Flurry of Hits Sparks Rays to Victory

The Tampa Bay Rays finally broke out of their offensive slump in a big way on Sunday, erupting for an 8-run third inning to power them to a 10-6 victory over the Minnesota Twins. The Rays had been struggling to score runs in recent games, managing just seven runs in their previous three contests combined. But they came alive in the third inning against Twins starter Bailey Ober.

Big Hits Drive in Runs

  • Manuel Margot singled in two runs.
  • Ji-Man Choi doubled in two more.
  • Randy Arozarena capped the inning with a 2-run homer.

The Rays added two more runs in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Wander Franco and an RBI single by Brandon Lowe.

The win gives the Rays their second straight victory and improves their record to 22-21.

McClanahan Continues to Impress

Shane McClanahan was once again impressive on the mound for the Rays, allowing just two runs on four hits over six innings of work. He struck out eight batters and walked two.

McClanahan has now allowed just three earned runs in his last 23 innings pitched.

Rays Avoid Losing Streak

The win was a much-needed one for the Rays, who had lost three of their previous four games. It also snapped a three-game losing streak to the Twins.

The Rays will now head to Chicago for a three-game series against the White Sox.
