Wi-Fi Calling: Making Calls over Wi-Fi
Introduction
Wi-Fi calling allows you to make and receive phone calls over a Wi-Fi network, even when you have a weak or no cellular signal. This can be useful in areas with poor cellular coverage, such as basements or remote locations.
Enabling Wi-Fi Calling on iPhone
To enable Wi-Fi calling on your iPhone, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap "Phone."
- Tap on "Wi-Fi Calling."
- Enable the "Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone" slider.
You may need to enter or confirm your address for emergency services.
Using Wi-Fi Calling
Once you have enabled Wi-Fi calling, you can make and receive calls as usual. Your phone will automatically switch to Wi-Fi calling when it detects a weak or no cellular signal. To check if you are using Wi-Fi calling, look at the status bar at the top of your screen. If you see the "Wi-Fi" icon, you are using Wi-Fi calling.
Benefits of Wi-Fi Calling
Wi-Fi calling offers several benefits, including:
- Improved call quality in areas with poor cellular coverage.
- Reduced reliance on cellular data, which can save you money.
- Enhanced security, as Wi-Fi networks are generally more secure than cellular networks.
